Dating to the later 19th century and probably made for the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-8. Probably Balkan (Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, Montenegro) produced the Turkish style and patterns with perfunctory craftsmanship. Brass hilt cast in two halves (riveted and ill-fitting) with eagle head pommel and two crescents on each side. 26 ½” broad and narrow fullered curved blade with a long false edge. The blade is hand hammered further identifying it as provincial. Hilt with seam opened and one languet bent. Blade with gray patina.  Rare
