The National weapon of Nepal. Gurkhas are a military culture comprised of various Himalayan ethnic groups including Nepalese and Indian. They trace their roots to the 8th century and fought valiantly and honorably, initially against British colonial troops and then with them. This example is 12 7/8” length with back fullered characteristic angled blade. The horn hilt is inlaid with white metal studs. The black leather scabbard is decorated with incised lattice and saltire panels, weakened from age and wear.
