FINE VIKING SOCKETED ARROWHEAD, C800-1000 AD

Elegant form. Over 3 ¾” (3.79”) length with tapered butted seam socket. The slender point thickened in the middle, both sides, for penetration of the leather armor of their opponents. Made for the classic Viking raid which met with resistance and usually ended with the victims capitulating to their demands which included seizing anything of value and often, enslaving those fit for the market or their own use. Exceptional form and preservation.
