FINE VIKING HEART NECKLACE, 10TH-11TH CENTURY AD

Gilt bronze, heart, charm size, just under 5/8” (0.62”) height plus the loop. Natural form with rounded top, with an incised central trefoil with crisp raised border.  The heart stood for bravery, fortitude, loyalty, integrity, all attributes of the Viking warrior. It is abundantly referenced in Viking literature. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored on a gilt silver neck chain for modern wear.
