84 1/4" length with very finely forged leaf shaped head with discreet beveled edge and raised finely checkered medial. Tapered socket encased in fine brass wire work with additional, wire segment below. Heavy natural wood haft with medium age encrustation. The butt with heavy steel band wrap finished to a slightly bulbous faceted form. Head and butt crisp with gray patina. The Danakil live across the Red Sea from Saudi Arabia and Yemen and are ruled by Islamic sultanates. They are racially related to the Arabs and the quality of their weapons compares with those of the Arabs. They fought with the Mad Mahti in the 1885 War with the British.
