CRUSADES ARROWHEAD, 12th CENTURY AD

Saracen, 12th century AD. Forged iron, 2 1/8” length with thick beveled edge point on tapered tang. Specifically shaped to penetrate the mail armor of the Crusaders. The Saracens were the Islamic defenders of the Holy Land against whom the Crusaders fought. Dating to the Second and Third Crusades, the period of the capture of Jerusalem and, ultimately its loss to Saladin, after nearly a century.
