Danelaw England. Finely forged iron, 4 1/2" (4.53”) length. The point flat both sides with an elegantly cusped base. Type used for surprise raids against unprotected victims in Mediterranean coastal settlements. The tapered socket with butted seam (small chip to base). Excellent excavated condition and professionally conserved. A flesh-cutting arrow from a Mediterranean village raid. Such raids relied on surprise and shock with the first victims randomly slaughtered to terrorize the remainder into submission and subsequent slavery. Nothing short of iconic.
