Purchased in 1964 from the famed collector, author, and dealer, Norm Flayderman, Greenwich Connecticut. Iron square poll head about identical to Swords and Blades of the American Revolution, Neumann, #93.A. 6 7/8” height. The Neumann example is 7 ½” height. This example is not excavated but mounted as found on an original hand-hewn haft. Overall length 35”. The head is smooth with minor surface rust and small edge chips. Type used in the Revolution for clearing camps and shooting blinds as well as providing firewood. Straight out of a Colonial New England barn!
