Forge iron, 10 ½” length with concave triangular section point on tapered socket. See British Cut & Thrust Weapons, Wilkinson, fig. 12D. The socket inscribed with KºTAH indicating use by the Kotah, (Rajasthan) lancers of the British Army in India. The use of lancers, considered outdated, was revised with great success by Napoleon. As a result, England and northern countries reestablished lancer regiments including, famously, the 17th Lancers of the Charge of the Light Brigade. Dark patina with minor raised rusting to the point and a small forging flaw to the socket.
