ALGERIAN ARMOR PIERCING DAGGER FLYSSA, C.1750-1850

Classic early example with heavy wedge section s.e. blade, 10 3/4" length. The back inlaid both sides with roped, crescent and triangular brass, completely intact. The hilt full relief carved as a stylized animal head and overlaid in sheet brass tooled in panels completely intact with slight distortion from shrinkage of the wood within. Shows great age throughout. Some age oxidation as expected but rarely found completely intact. Used to break chain mail which was worn through that period.
