Two pieces comprise an elongated duck’s foot with well delineated toes with nodular claws. Original intricate suspension comprising a lower loop and double suspension loop connected with an S scroll, perhaps a durative of the Roman Augur’s (sorcerer’s) lituus. A burial at Viden, Denmark contained the body of a woman of wealth and status buried with henbane seeds, which have hallucinogenic properties, and a wand as well as other objects. From these, archeologists concluded that she was a seeress or sorceress. (Among Vikings, only women were sorcerers.) The grave contained a necklace hung with three duck feet pendants very similar to this. 1 7/8” total height.
