Slightly under 3/4” height, elegant form with crossed curves to the top, and quartered nubs below center. The former possibly descended from the Roman lituus, the scroll-shaped wand used by augurs (seers of the Roman religion) to scribe out an area of sky. Broad field with a wreath surrounding a central heart. The form of the heart near natural with slightly cusped top. Both forms are used profusely in Nordic literature. The heart stood for bravery, fortitude, loyalty, integrity, all attributes of the Viking warrior. It is abundantly referenced in Viking literature. Professionally refurbished with the silver surface restored for contemporary wear. On a Sterling silver 18” neck chain, gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
