Used to clear brush and fashion blinds from which American troops fired on the British, fascine knives were officially issued during the Revolution. See Collector’s Illustrated Encyclopedia of the American Revolution, Neumann, p.118. American blacksmith made, 22 ¼” length. Original wood handle with expanded butt, dry with the surface on the right side partially flaked away. Blade sound with light to medium rusting.  Probably retired after the war to a barn wall or attic where it was exposed to the elements and is in condition as found in the 1950’s.
