32” blade of flattened diamond section decorated with royal arms and motto about half its length. Silver hilt with cushion form pommel and stirrup form guard with side ring to the right. The underside of the guard with crisp London makes including date letter (Q) for 1791-2. The opposite side with crisp makers mark IF in hound’s tooth-edged rectangle for John Fountain, admitted 1792 and thus dating this sword that single year. See Wyler p.131 & p.167 respectively. Reeded ivory grip with vacant silver escutcheon each side for the owner’s initials. Silver hilted English officer’s swords are very rare comprising perhaps 1% against 99% brass. This example survives in well used excellent condition with a few small patches pitting toward the point.
Items containing ivory cannot be shipped outside of the U.S. or in the states of CA, HI, IL, NV, NY, NJ, NH, OR, and WA.
