JAPANESE LACQUER BOWL OWAN

Meiji Period for soup or rice. C.1900-10. 4 3/4" diameter. Bowl with rounded base and concave section upper. Rounded lid. Both with flared foot and grip. Orange body color outside and out. The top is decorated with a bird in leaves and flower buds in gold. All gold decoration is true gold in a lacquer matrix. Produced by the true lacquer (not paint) process which takes months of layering and drying. Additional details to the purchaser.
