3 3/4” length forged iron, formed as a loop with flattened end mounted with a ring. The ring was probably attached to the soldier’s pouch with a cord, as these were often used in the dark and easily lost. See Collector’s Illustrated Encyclopedia of the American Revolution, Neumann p.262 #2. Sound excavated condition.
