RARE VIKING FIELD ANVIL, 10TH-11TH CENTURY AD

Forged iron, 3 7/8” length.  Skillfully forged with tapered rectangular top on elongated pyramidal base spike. Used to sharpen sword and service edge nicks on sword blades in the field. The spike was driven into a log or tree and the blade edge hammered against to top.
