Second half of the 19th century. Iron, 12 7/8" length. Finely forged with medially ridged leaf shaped point on opened seam conical socket containing a segment of the original wood haft secured with a pin. The haft cut as was typical for collection by missionaries and soldiers who were limited in the size of what they could carry back to England. Items such as this were carried by missionaries to churches in England when soliciting funds for the missions.
