NEW GUINEA HUSBAND KILLING DAGGER

13 1/2" length made from cassowary bone, specifically to kill an unfaithful husband! Shaped with a tapered blade for 2/3 its length. The joint is encased in a fine woven band mounted with three rows of two double cassowary feather tufts on shell and seed bead extensions. Unfaithful husbands were killed by their wife’s brothers and the dagger was left in place as a marker for justice and thus, no retribution was warranted from the victim’s family. Complete with custom display stand, with excellent age character throughout.
