Type used in the French and Indian War and Revolution. Form based on the early examples designed to defeat mounted men in armor with a crescent axe blade balanced by a curved back spike. Leaf shaped spear point with hammer raised medial ridge. Lapped seam conical socket with a square hole for a securing stud. Showing considerable original hammer finish overall with forged lamination evident. The base with two very old tags, one, buck skin, dating to the time when this specimen was part of a traveling educational exhibition.
