SAXON CAVALRY OFFICER’S SWORD C.1800

Saxony was an ally of the French under Napoleon and this sword is made to the proportions and quality popular in France. Heavy brass hilt with lion head pommel and arms of Saxony on the knuckle bow. Reverse langets in the Eastern Hussar taste. Wire wrapped ray skin covered grip. 32” curved broad fullered blade with distinct clipped point in Eastern hussar taste.  The blade decorated first half in gold arms and foliate displays on bright blued ground.  The gold virtually intact. The blue with balance of bright against dulled speckles. A heavy sword of fighting weight of the Napoleonic Wars.
