OTTOMAN TURKISH SHAMSHIR 19TH CENTURY

Brass hilt, originally gilt. Tapered oval section grip relief decorated with foliage. Lobed pommel. The top dented. Down turned guard with scroll terminals matching the pommel. 27 ½” curved slab sided blade with long false edge, shows evidence of watered steel patterning.  smooth gray patina with a few black speckles, negligible. Dating to the period of the Crimean War and Russo-Turkish War of 1877-8.  Rare
