The sun and moon were puzzling and worshipped by virtually every culture in history. In ancient Rome, the moon was deified as Luna. Luna was benevolent and ordinarily paired with Sol the sun as in later Viking mythology. In the Imperial. Period, Luna and Sol represented the extent of Roman rule over the world and the concept of peace and harmony in the empire. This pendant is silvered bronze, just under 1 ½” (1.49”) total height. It depicted the moon with globe tips representing Sol and Luna. The inner crescent is delicately stippled and the suspension is specifically Roman. It has been silver plated and suspended from an 18” sterling silver neck chain for modern wear. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
