Standard pattern, Peterson #154. Gilt hilt with eagle motif pommel and lion head quillon terminals. Simulated wire twist grip. 29 7/8” d.e. blade with Spanish maker’s mark at the forte, etched proof opposite and original blade seat. Gilt mounts to the plated scabbard. Even retains it original gray flannel storage bag. Blade bright. Hilt and scabbard mounts show very light wear as expected for it age and use. Pattern adopted after the Civil War and in use today. This examples about 20 years old and suitable for Academy use as well as display.
