Finely made with delicately crenelated back, curved s.e. blade in pewter seat. Ivory grip with diamond faceted transverse bands divided by beading. The top surmounted by a curious stick figure holding a trident, constructed of a torso and head with separate arms and legs attached by rivet construction. Fine uniform age patina throughout. Swords of this type were used to make animal sacrifices to Kali the goddess of death and evil who, when depicted with her attributes, holds such a sword in her upper right (master) hand. Generally of plain form, one other figural example is known. Evidently, they are made by the same hand.
