Price: $475.00

Item Number: 06-1052
Characteristic form with finely forged wasp waisted blade, 9 length (13 1/2 overall). Dating about 1800 or a little earlier, this knife shows the fully developed form with decoration in transverse and zigzag lines throughout the hilt. That decoration, virtually always seen in pewter tape inlay, acquired through trade, is here hand carved in relief rather than metal embellishment. This is the only example known to us made in that way and clearly the predecessor of the later inlaid examples. Shows its great age with crusty or congealed surface to the blade. Hilt sound and encrusted with some superficial wear to the pommel ring edge.
