Type imported for use in Colonial America. Iron hilt. Grip wrapped with alternate copper wire and tape, specifically as used by Naval officers (wrap complete, slightly loose from core shrinkage). 31 1/2” triangular blade with concave faces. Hilt and blade show uniform gray patina interspersed with very tiny oxidation speckles, negligible for the period. The blade with evidence of lamination and definitely hand hammered.strongly suggesting this to be an American made example based on the English pattern.
