Late Edo period. 12 1/4” length, 6 1/4” triangular point with a red pigmented central groove on each face. Quite crisp and bright. Tapered tang with mounting hole, rusted over tool finish. Originally mounted on a wood haft to about 7” length, The yari served police in peace time to keep civil order as well as on the battlefield. As with samurai swords, the heads were cherished and the hafts renewed over time.
