Probably German. Walnut, 12” length, originally a couple of inches longer. The top splintered and the bottom intact. Damaged in antiquity with some angled abrasions as well. Old arsenal surplus. Evidently splintered when the tang/grip was bent. The sword likely remounted with a new grip and this saved for reusing in shorted length which never happened. All arsenals had stored of odd parts which we sometimes see adapted and reused, particularly armor.
