Sculptural hilt finely finished in high relief and heavily gold plated. Plumed helmet pommel and lion mask knuckle bow. The shell guard with a figure of Hermes, reclining on a cargo bale clutching an anchor. His right-hand holds the caduceus and a ship in full sail stands behind. Silver wire wrapped grip. 30 ¼” hollow face triangular blade with foliage and military trophies, in original blue and gilt. Blue somewhat faded as expected. Makers initials to the base. Blade with a little superficial staining only.
