Items #492-#500 are Viking garment broaches C.866-1067 AD. All are bronze and attached by integral pierced posts on the back which penetrated the thick fabric or leather and were secured with pins. They served as ornaments as well as providing a measure of protection from a sword or axe blow. They are true Viking jewelry of which any is very rare.

Probably a variation of the same motif. Delicately pierced with transverse line. Single post in excellent preservation.
