An Apulian Trefoil Lipped Oinochoe

Items #207-213 were purchased from Christie’s, London, in the 1980’s for our own collection and are unconditionally guaranteed authentic.  These seven examples are the last of the collection.  Whereas the majority of such examples which come to market are reconstituted from fragments and restored, each of these is undamaged and un restored.

High arched handle and turnip form body decorated with a white highlighted female face facing left  and flanked by scrolls.  The back with a large palmett below the handle. The base banded and the shoulder with a radial motif.  The body and shoulder decoration virtually 100% intact, and strong.  The neck, lip and handle with some wear to the black finish.  Height 9".
