Item Number: 09-545
Hide parrying shield, 13” dia of domed form with up turned edge. Four fine flower form bosses on their original felt seats.  Reverse with cloth knuckle pad and double hand grips.  Very good for the period with surface wear to the perimeter and original finish to the middle.  One edge with a distinct and unmistakable sword cut right through.  The buckler is intended to intercept such a thrust and create the opportunity for a fatal counter thrust which very likely was the result in this instance.  Very seldom encountered with a wound this decisive.
